Southampton Solent University can trace its origins back to 1855 where it was founded as a private School of Art, which later became Southampton College of Art. The College then merged with the Southampton College of Technology and the College of Nautical Studies which led to the establishment of Southampton Institute in 1984. Southampton Solent University gained university status in July 2005.
Home to a diverse student community, Solent University is dedicated to enabling learners of all backgrounds to become enterprising citizens and responsible leaders.
Southampton Solent University welcomes students from right across the globe. Over 14% of their student population have come from overseas and more than 100 different nationalities are represented here on campus.
Southampton offers a wide range of full- and part-time undergraduate and postgraduate courses, short and CPD courses and foundation degrees.
